From 1.09.09, Service Tax is also levied on

• Service provided in relation to transport of coastal goods through National Waterways and Inland water.
• Cosmetic & Plastic Surgery service
• Legal Consultancy service

The assesses who provide services in above three categories are requested to contact divisional offices in their jurisdiction for registration & guidance.

For filing Service Tax Returns, assesses may take assistance of Departmental recognized Service Tax Return Preparers (STRPSs), whose details may be obtained from Divisional Office or through website www.trpscheme.com

Non Payment of Service Tax will attract interest @ 13% per annum and also penalty of Rs.200/- per day or 2% of taxable amount per month. Delay in filing returns may lead to imposition penalty of extendable upto Rs.2,000/-
